Marika Borg and surfing

It's only a few weeks left until the surf camps in Biarritz starts. Marika Borg will be there to enjoy the breathtaking scenery and perfect waves with all of you girlies.

Girliecamps big mama Marika will always remember the day she caught her first wave. It was a sunny day in Fuerteventura. Coming there to windsurf she found a sport that would change her way of life forever.

  • - I first started windsurfing when I was really young and I practiced it for several years, I even started my own windsurfing club, but when I tried surfing and caught my first wave I was just hooked for life, Marika says.

Marikas first shot at surfing was a lucky one. The conditions where perfect and she used a big board which made it easy to catch the waves. Not everyone can catch a wave at first, but it's not only the actual riding that makes Marika love surfing.

  • - The sea is to me something special. I've always been a fish and I love being in water, the sea gives me calmness and makes me stop and live in the present. It a sort of meditational feeling, she says.
  • - It's amazing going down to the beach and look out over the horizon and just feel the salty air in your lungs. The Atlantic coast in France is so rough and wild, which makes you feel alive as well as it make you calm.

Marika has been going to Biarritz, were this summers surf camps will take place, for 15 years. She first came there to explore the Atlantic coast and since then she hasn't found another place that can live up to the beauty of this aria.

  • - The landscape in this aria is amazing, but also the sea. In an aria of 10 km the shape of the landscape change tremendously. You have long sand beaches surrounded by pines in Hossegor, slithering roads with rocky beaches in Cottes Bascuettes not to mention Saint Sebastian in Spain not far away.

What are your expectations for this summers camps?

- Beautiful days at the beach and warm evenings winding down after a day of surfing togehter with happy campers.
