My experience*

1. Absolute beginner - Have tried at the most a few times

2. Starting to learn - can ride ski lifts comfortably, swim with the surfboard etc

3. Accomplished - Goes down all pistes, including black ones, gets up on the surfboard in 2-3 metre waves

4. Expert - Practices advanced off-pist skiing, can go down large waves turning with the surfboard
